From One Story to Two: Expanding the Lake House

The Expanding Horizons addition transformed a modest one-story home with an exposed basement into a spacious, fully renovated lake house perfect for years of family enjoyment. The original home had only 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. With the addition of a complete second story and a total overhaul of the home’s structure, the finished result features 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus a newly remodeled basement.

Due to a structural issue, the entire first floor was demolished and rebuilt from scratch. The new layout kept one bedroom and created a larger, more open space for the kitchen, bathroom, and great room. The entryway was expanded to include additional storage, providing more functionality. 

The second floor was entirely new, with room for 3 bedrooms and an additional bathroom. The owners opted for more functional, durable fixtures and focused their budget on the home’s structure to ensure it would stand the test of time as a beloved lake house.

In the basement, the bathroom and rec room were updated with new fixtures, flooring, and fresh paint, making it a welcoming space for guests and relaxation. A new air conditioner was also added, providing much-needed climate control to enhance the comfort of the home.
